Job summary

Wilson Vale is recruiting a General Assistant to join a private school kitchen in Amersham. The role covers preparation, service and general kitchen duties during term time, with a 24-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am–3:30pm.

We value reliable, positive individuals with a can-do attitude and good customer service. Full training will be provided and development opportunities are available within the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role within a catering or school setting.
• High standards of organisation in a busy environment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team of nine colleagues.
• Basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a General Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in AmershamHP6 5PF.

You’ll have flexibility to work 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, during term time only.

We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.

We’re looking for a positive, honest and reliable General Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking team. You’ll support the preparation and service of fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals for pupils and staff in a private school setting, while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and service.

You’ll help with food preparation, serving, cleaning and general kitchen duties, as well as supporting the team with a range of dietary requirements and preferences. Previous catering experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. There are also opportunities for development and progression within the team for the right person.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Have experience working in a similar role and environment
• Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
• Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
• Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
• Have excellent customer service and social skills
• Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
• Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 9
• Be customer focused
• Have basic food knowledge
• Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
