Job summary

ESP Global Services at London Gatwick Airport is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join on-site IT operations. You'll deliver EUC and workplace technology support within a busy aviation environment, resolving incidents at the desk, and ensuring quick restoration of service for staff.

You'll work in a hands-on role focused on Windows, Microsoft 365, device provisioning, AD administration and network connectivity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' hands-on experience in Desktop Support, EUC, Workplace Technology, Field Support or a comparable on-site IT support role.
• Strong troubleshooting capability across Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
• Experience supporting desktops, laptops, peripherals and mobile devices.
• Experience working with Active Directory.
• A working understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP and wireless networking.
• Ability to diagnose basic LAN/WAN and connectivity issues and identify when specialist escalation is required.
• Understanding of enterprise IT environments, including network and server infrastructure.
• Experience working to defined incident, security and customer-service processes.
• The confidence to deal directly with users in a busy, highly operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and resolving desktop, laptop, peripheral and workplace technology issues.
• Providing hands-on desk-side support to users across the airport's corporate environment.
• Troubleshooting Windows devices, Microsoft 365 applications and common enterprise software.
• Supporting mobile devices across iOS and Android.
• Performing Active Directory user and device administration.
• Diagnosing LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and general network connectivity issues.
• Installing, replacing, configuring and maintaining end-user devices and peripherals.
• Supporting device builds, deployments, moves, changes and hardware refresh activity.
• Providing basic Smart Hands support for network and infrastructure teams on-site.
• Working within customer security, access, hardware warranty and IT service-management procedures.
• Escalating more complex incidents effectively while retaining ownership of the user experience.
