Job summary

The Gateway Academy in Thurrock is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in the classroom, focusing on SEN and small‑group work.

You will work under the direction of class teachers and the SENCo, carry out observations, plan and adapt activities, and support emotional and social development of students.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be able to carry out and write up observations to inform and evaluate the child's needs.
• Experience as an autonomous classroom practitioner proactive in addressing students who may be falling behind.

Responsibilities

• Key responsibilities relate to small group provision and intervention for SEND pupils.
• Support the emotional and social development of the pupils and work under direction of teachers and SENCo.

Salary: GLC Point 10 £24,733 - Point 16 £27,419 FTE [Actual Pro rata Salary £18,633 - £20,656]

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: 32.5 hours per week, Term time only

We are looking to appoint strong, enthusiastic, committed and creative classroom-based Learning Support Assistants. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly taking direction from the class teachers and SENCo in adapting and planning activities to take students' learning forward. Key responsibilities relating to small group provision and intervention for SEND pupils. Our students' needs are at the core of our ethos and successful candidates will be required to support the emotional and social development of the young people they work with.

Candidates must be able to carry out and write up necessary observations to inform and evaluate the child's needs. They must be experienced classroom practitioners proactive in dealing with students and identifying groups or individuals who may be falling behind in their learning.
