Job summary

DPD Group UK in the East Midlands is seeking a reliable Gatehouse Operative to manage access for authorised vehicles and monitor trailer movements. You will be part of a hub security team, coordinating with contractors, staff and visitors, performing checks, and liaising with emergency services.

• Previous experience in a similar position is advantageous, but full training will be provided.
• Strong written and verbal communication are essential to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

• Ensure only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are granted access to the site.
• Communicate vehicle movements to other departments.
• Perform physical checks of vehicle details and seals.
• Check reported empty trailers arriving and departing.
• Ensure trailer locking systems are functioning properly.
• Work as part of a team to deliver gatehouse security and customer service.
• Coordinate activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
• Liaise with emergency services and other third-party organisations.

Our Hub Security Manager in the East Midlands is looking to recruit reliable and dedicated Gatehouse Operative.

Effective Gatehouse operations play a vital role within the UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Key Duties and Accountabilities will include

• Ensuring that only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are given access and egress to the site
• Communicating to other departments within the business with reference to vehicle movements
• Physical checks of vehicle details and seals
• Ensuring that all reported empty trailers arriving & departing are physically checked.
• Ensuring that trailer locking systems are working effectively
• Working as part of a team to deliver excellent gatehouse security and customer service.
• Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
• Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in a similar position would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role as are excellent interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with, staff, international drivers and visitors on a daily basis. You will be someone with a responsible and trustworthy attitude who takes pride in your day to day work
