Job summary

DPD is looking for a Gatehouse Operative at the Hinckley hub to support security and efficient site operations. You will control vehicle access, monitor movements, and ensure the security of the facility while delivering a high standard of customer service.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with flexibility to adapt to shift patterns. Full training provided, and you may work between two hub locations on short notice.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with staff, drivers and visitors.
• Willingness to take initiative and work as part of a team.
• Full training will be provided for the role.
• Good computer skills and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure only authorised vehicles access and exit the site.
• Communicate vehicle movements to other departments.
• Perform physical checks of vehicle details and seals.
• Check reported empty trailers on arrival and departure.
• Ensure trailer locking systems work correctly.
• Collaborate with contractors, employees and visitors.
• Liaise with emergency services and third parties.

• Contract Type: Permanent 40.25 hours per week (over the year)
• Salary: Circa £26,500
• Location: DPD Hub 4, Logix Road, Hinckley LE10 3BQ
• Days of Work: 4 on 4 off
• Working Hours: 06:00 - 18:00

Job Description

Our Hub Security Manager in the East Midlands is looking to recruit reliable and dedicated Gatehouse Operative.

Effective Gatehouse operations play a vital role within the UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Key Duties and Accountabilities will include

• Ensuring that only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are given access and egress to the site
• Communicating to other departments within the business with reference to vehicle movements
• Physical checks of vehicle details and seals
• Ensuring that all reported empty trailers arriving & departing are physically checked.
• Ensuring that trailer locking systems are working effectively
• Working as part of a team to deliver excellent gatehouse security and customer service.
• Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
• Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in a similar position would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role as are excellent interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with, staff, international drivers and visitors on a daily basis. You will be someone with a responsible and trustworthy attitude who takes pride in your day to day work

• Flexibility towards working hours as working hours are varied to fit in with the current shift roster
