Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital in London seeks an organised admin assistant for the Gastroenterology Admissions team to deliver high-quality patient administration. You will support clinicians and administrative colleagues, coordinate RTT-related bookings, and help ensure accurate documentation and efficient processes.

You will manage electronic patient records, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities while supporting service development and patient experience improvements.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an administrative, customer or patient focused role.
  • Experience of working within a team as well as autonomously.
  • Understanding and a commitment of the need for confidentiality.
  • Experience of working under pressure and keeping to tight deadlines.
  • Awareness of the importance of maintaining high-quality information whilst dealing with competing demands.
  • Demonstrable administration experience in healthcare.
  • Working experience in clinical /medical setting
  • Excellent quality customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Admission Process & Policies
  • Knowledge of NHS policy, including referral to treatment targets, waiting time standards and non-surgical admissions.
  • Knowledge of computerised patient information systems. (Epic)

Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be a keen team player they will be expected to work together with all teams to provide high-quality care for patients within the Gastroenterology service by working closely with the clinical medical staff.
  • The ability to forge close working relationships with administration colleagues, clinical/medical staff within the department and other MDT colleagues both internal and external to the department is essential to the post.
  • The candidate will have excellent customer care skills.
  • A working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programmes is integral, as is the knowledge and experience of working with electronic patient records / information systems.
  • The successful candidate would be a key member of the team, and they will have the opportunity for personal and professional development.
