Job summary

Birmingham Botanical Gardens is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee site and buildings upkeep, gardens maintenance, cleaning, and safety oversight. You will lead the maintenance team, manage external cleaning contractors, and ensure timely repairs and compliance with health and safety regulations.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in multi-skilled maintenance, and the ability to coordinate with horticultural staff. On-site work with occasional DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and electrical drawings familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Manage the site and buildings maintenance, including repairs to gardens and nurseries, cleanliness, waste management, water supplies, drains, lighting, defects and repairs, building work and decorating.
• Line manage the Maintenance Assistant, Cleaning Team and volunteers/contractors.
• Monitor daily operations, delegate tasks, ensure quality, and provide training.
