Description

The Athenaeum Hotel Kitchen supports culinary services for all ten of the Chautauqua Hotel Company food service operations. The kitchen operates daily from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. during the nine‑week summer season.

Compensation

Starting at $16.50 per hour, up to $18.00 per hour with experience and qualifications.

Work Day
  • Prepare garde‑manger and pastry items prior to service, collaborating with the Executive Chef.
  • Plate items during meals and suggest pairing desserts with wines, cocktails, and other dessert beverages.
  • Train culinary staff in techniques, assist in food preparation.
  • Research and develop recipes to keep the menu fresh.
  • Ensure all food is visually appealing.
  • Submit food and supply orders for Executive Chef approval.
  • Work efficiently in a team, handling multiple priorities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Referral Program

Active employees who refer a candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days receive a $500 referral bonus (less taxes). For seasonals less than 6 months, the requirement is 30 days.

Schedule

Seasonal employment June to August, with flexibility for pre‑season and post‑season. Schedules include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Typical shift eight hours, start time 5 a.m.–5 p.m.
