Job description

Job Title: Garage Mechanic

We are seeking a full-time mechanic to join our Garage Team, which provides maintenance and repair services for a variety of vehicles and equipment at the Liberty Steel sites in Rotherham, Stocksbridge, and Brinsworth.

The Role of the Garage Mechanic
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on cars, vans, and HGVs, including MOT preparation, annual servicing, breakdown fault finding, and repairs.
  • Provide vehicle mechanical and basic electrical maintenance and fault-finding services with specific engineering knowledge and skills.
Requirements of the Garage Mechanic
Essential Requirements
  • Apprentice-trained, BTEC NVQ Level 3 qualification, with ideally 2 years of vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of safe working procedures and application of safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, capable of working unsupervised, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and effective verbal communication.
  • Valid driving license.
Desirable Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with mobile plant equipment such as forklifts, mobile cranes, MEWPS, and diesel generators is advantageous but not essential.
Working Pattern

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, with alternate weekend work from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, and a midweek day off.
