Job summary

Co-op Group is seeking a dedicated Funeral Service Driver to join our team. The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with daytime shifts and an on-call rota over weekends. Training is provided, and you will support families with empathy and professionalism.

Typical duties include collecting the deceased, handling coffins, preparing for viewings, and maintaining vehicles and records. A full UK manual driving licence is essential, and physical work is required.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (manual lifting).
• Training and support provided for all duties.
• Comfort working with deceased individuals and families with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on the day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management applications and keep records updated.
• Lift and move coffins safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.
