Job summary

Pertemps Network Group is recruiting a Functional Skills Tutor (Maths & English) to join a specialist alternative provision in Oxford. The role is offered on a self-employed basis with an hourly rate of £23.50 plus a 10% preparation and administration allowance.

Immediate start available for an experienced tutor committed to helping learners aged 14-19 succeed. You'll deliver Functional Skills Maths and English at Entry Level to Level 2 through one-to-one and small group sessions, building

Qualifications

• Recognised Teaching Qualification (AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year's experience teaching Maths and/or English.
• Experience in education, training, FE or alternative provision settings.
• Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deliver creative and engaging lessons.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Interest or background in sport.
• Knowledge of safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths and English sessions.
• Identify learner strengths, gaps in knowledge and barriers to learning.
• Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes.
• Support learners to achieve and exceed their individual targets.
• Develop learning resources and assessment materials.

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established education provider that delivers specialist alternative provision programmes for young people who require additional support to succeed in education.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to deliver engaging Maths and English sessions to learners aged 14-19, many of whom have additional learning needs. The role offers the chance to make a genuine impact by helping learners build confidence, achieve qualifications, and progress towards positive outcomes.

The Role

You will deliver Functional Skills Maths and English at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 through a combination of one-to-one and small group sessions.

The successful candidate will be able to engage learners who may have previously faced barriers to education, adapting their approach to meet individual learning needs and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
