Job summary

Oakmoor Recruitment invites applications for a Functional Skills English Tutor based in Stoke-on-Trent. This full-time permanent role involves delivering lessons from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, planning engaging sessions, and supporting learners to overcome barriers and progress toward further education or training.

The successful candidate will have teaching qualifications (ideally L5 or above) and a Level 3 English qualification, with strong classroom management, assessment and learner-support

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Functional Skills English up to Level 2.
• A recognised teaching or training qualification (ideally L5 or above).
• A Level 3 qualification in English (minimum).
• Strong lesson planning, assessment and learner-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Functional Skills English from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.
• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to different abilities and learning needs.
• Motivate learners who may have experienced barriers or disengagement from traditional education.
• Assess and monitor learner progress, achievement, attendance and engagement.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records.
