Job summary

Oakmoor Recruitment in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced Functional Skills English Tutor to deliver programmes for learners aiming to achieve recognised qualifications. The role focuses on engaging lessons, progression support and building confidence for learners toward further education, training or employment.

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience up to Level 2, a Level 3 English qualification (minimum) and a recognised teaching/training qualification (L5+ preferred).

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Functional Skills English up to Level 2.
• Qualified teacher or trainer with Level 5 or above preferred.
• Level 3 English qualification (minimum).
• Strong planning, assessment and learner-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Functional Skills English from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.
• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to different abilities and learning needs.
• Motivate learners who may have experienced barriers or disengagement from traditional education.
• Assess and monitor learner progress, achievement, attendance and engagement.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records.

Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday

Salary: Starting from at least 30,000 per annum with an enhanced salary available for candidates with the right qualifications, experience and proven track record.

You will deliver engaging English tuition while providing the encouragement, structure and individual support young people need to progress towards further education, training, employment and greater independence.

The successful candidate will be a confident and adaptable practitioner who can build positive relationships with learners, respond calmly to challenging situations and create an inclusive environment in which every young person feels able to participate and succeed.

About You

You will ideally have:
