Job summary

The WCA Functional Assessor role with Maven Group Ltd involves conducting up to five client assessments per day via telephone, video, or face-to-face to determine work-related impacts of disabilities or health conditions. We offer an excellent starting salary of £42,000 per annum, with hybrid/home working and Plymouth-based on-site work when required.

Job description

What does the WCA Functional Assessor role involve?

The WCA Functional Assessor role will involve carrying out up to five client assessments per day. A typical day includes telephone, video, or face‑to‑face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their ability to perform work‑related tasks. You will listen to their experiences, ask questions, and compile a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. The final decision rests with the DWP; your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for

• An NMC‑registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or a HCPC‑qualified physiotherapist or occupational therapist with one year or more broad post‑registration experience
• A proactive and keen‑to‑learn professional

• Competent IT and computer skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health

No experience as a WCA Functional Assessor is required, as full training will be provided and you will be paid your full‑time salary from day one. All we expect is that you have at least one year of post‑graduate experience as an RGN, RMN, RNLD, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or paramedic, and hold an NMC or HCPC registration.
