Job summary

sjb medical is seeking a Functional Assessor to use clinical expertise to evaluate how health conditions affect daily living and work. The role combines medical knowledge with meaningful patient interactions, contributing to a fair benefits system.

Assessments are conducted face-to-face and via video or phone, with detailed histories and physical examinations to inform high-quality DWP reports. You will work independently yet be supported by a collaborative, learning-focused team.

About the role

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical expertise to assess how health conditions impact people's daily lives and ability to work. It's a role that blends medical knowledge with meaningful human connection - giving you the chance to support individuals while contributing to a fair and compassionate benefits system.

You'll carry out assessments both face-to-face and via video or phone, taking detailed medical histories and conducting physical examinations. Your findings will help inform accurate, high-quality reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). • A registered Nurse, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist or Physiotherapist with at least 12 months' post-registration UK experience
• Confident in clinical decision-making, with a strong understanding of functional assessment
• Skilled communicator, able to build trust and ask the right questions
• Digitally capable, with experience using clinical software and systems
• Self-motivated and organised, with a focus on quality and integrity
• Team-oriented, ready to support colleagues and contribute to a positive working culture
