Job summary

SJB Medical in London is seeking a Functional Assessor to apply clinical expertise to assess how health conditions affect daily living and work capabilities. You will conduct assessments and support high-quality reporting for the DWP.

You will perform face-to-face, video or phone assessments, contribute to accurate reports, and work within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining strong professional development. Hours are full-time, 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, in Hounslow.

Qualifications

• Qualified healthcare professional with UK post-registration experience (12 months+).
• Confident in clinical decision-making and functional assessment.
• Skilled communicator who builds trust and asks the right questions.
• Digitally capable with experience using clinical software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional assessments face-to-face, via video or phone.
• Take detailed medical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Prepare high-quality reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
• Work independently within a multidisciplinary team and pursue ongoing learning.

About the role

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical expertise to assess how health conditions impact people's daily lives and ability to work. It's a role that blends medical knowledge with meaningful human connection - giving you the chance to support individuals while contributing to a fair and compassionate benefits system.

You’ll carry out assessments both face-to-face and via video or phone, taking detailed medical histories and conducting physical examinations. • Digitally capable, with experience using clinical software and systems
• Self-motivated and organised, with a focus on quality and integrity
