Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Plymouth. You will support pupils across KS1 and KS2 in class and targeted small-group settings.

Ideal candidates will have school or childcare experience, strong communication skills and a calm, supportive approach to behaviour. This temporary role offers potential for a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a school, nursery or childcare setting.
• Experience supporting children aged 4–11.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm and positive approach to behaviour management.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Confidence working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across the primary curriculum in class and small groups.
• Assist with planning, preparing resources and classroom activities.
• Encourage focus, engagement and confidence in learning.
• Provide pastoral support and monitor pupil progress.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Support pupils with additional needs where required.
