Job summary

iwoca is hiring a Full-stack Engineer for the Operations Engineering Team in a hybrid London setup. You will build and maintain internal systems powering the German market, focusing on underwriting, notifications, and account management.

You’ll work across backend Python and frontend React/TypeScript, driving automated workflows and scalable architectures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, advocate for engineering quality, and take ownership of projects end-to-end, shaping

Qualifications

• Proven track record designing and building backend systems using Python, across frontend codebases with React/TypeScript.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and performance considerations.
• Ability to translate operational needs into automated workflows and scalable solutions.
• Strong communication to explain complex topics and influence decisions within the team.
• Experience taking work from problem to delivery, with trade-offs and iteration based on usage.
• Familiarity with AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code or similar) to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Simplify workflows by automating appropriate tasks and reducing manual effort.
• Evolve the architecture to modernise and scale systems with dependable trade-offs.
• Advocate for quality through code reviews and design sessions.
• Expand scope by taking ownership and leading end-to-end projects, building commercial judgement.
