Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Hybrid Full-stack Engineer in London to build systems powering its German business. You’ll own end-to-end projects across underwriting, notifications, and account management in a cross-functional Operations Engineering team that supports 70+ colleagues.

The role emphasizes modernising architecture, scalable design, and a strong focus on quality. Opportunities include leading projects end-to-end and leveraging AI to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven backend design and build with Python, plus frontend work in React/TypeScript.
• Experience using AI tools to reduce boilerplate and accelerate complex tasks.
• Relational DB experience, ideally PostgreSQL; focus on performance and maintainability.
• Ability to take problems from stakeholder input to delivered solution.
• Strong communication to explain technical topics and influence decisions.
• Track record delivering end-to-end projects with good trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Simplify workflows by translating operational needs into reliable code.
• Evolve architecture to modernise systems while keeping them dependable as they scale.
• Advocate for quality through code reviews and design sessions to improve practices and UX.
• Expand scope by owning end-to-end projects and developing commercial judgement.
