Job summary

SpaMedica in Epsom (KT17 1BL) is seeking an Optical Assistant on a 12-month FTC maternity cover. The role is based across our Epsom cluster with clinics across multiple sites, full-time 37.5 hours per week, 4 days out of 6, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Salary £27,762 per year. You will support patient care, assist optometrists with diagnostics, pre- and post-operative clinics, and ensure stock control and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience with clinical governance principles.
• Ability to assist in diagnostics alongside optometrists.
• Assist in pre- and post-operative clinics.
• Proficient with the Medisoft database and clinic software.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in day-to-day clinic diagnostics.
• Assist in running pre- and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner in a busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in Medisoft and keep the database up to date.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to clinical activities and check equipment.
• Ensure correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control and maintain par levels.
• Manage all diagnostic and theatre equipment daily.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in line with GPDR.

Location: New Plan House, East Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 1BL

This role will be based within our Epsom cluster, which involves working across multiple sites.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant:

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
