Job summary

SpaMedica is seeking an Optical Assistant to join the Newark hospital cluster, working across multiple sites. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, four days out of six, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, based at Loxley House, Balderton Gate, Newark, NG24 1UN.

Salary is £25,000 with a focus on patient care, safety, and satisfaction. The successful candidate will support optometrists, assist in clinics, maintain equipment, and uphold governance and confidentiality standards within a high-quality NHS

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
