Job summary

The Government Recruitment Service is recruiting a Verification Assurance Officer to join a new team in Scotland, based in Musselburgh. The role focuses on preventing fraud on the frontline and requires face-to-face interviews with claimants at Jobcentre locations.

As a VAO you will strengthen verification processes, educate customers on responsibilities, and work with colleagues to ensure robust fraud controls with clear reporting and MI management.

Qualifications

• Experience interviewing claimants to verify identification and housing costs.
• Ability to provide training and educate customers on fraud responsibilities.
• Experience working in frontline welfare or fraud prevention.

Responsibilities

• Work with Jobcentre and Service Centre colleagues on interviews and verification.
• Conduct robust interviews on documents for verification of identification, housing costs, and other elements.
• Lead review meetings with customers and the Enhanced Review Team (ERT) to collate evidence.
• Provide regular feedback on fraud trends to risk and intelligence teams within DWP.
• Lead customer education sessions with Jobcentre colleagues on responsibilities and consequences of non-compliance.
• Collate and maintain accurate Management Information as directed by analysts and performance teams.
