Job summary

Vetro Recruitment seeks a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker in Newport to help individuals transition from secure or residential settings to independent living in Newport and the Gwent region. You will provide direct person-centred support and assist in daily living skills, budgeting, tenancy management, and routine establishment.

The role requires a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Newport and the Gwent region.

Qualifications

• Proven frontline support experience with individuals with complex mental health needs or challenging behaviours.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel across Newport and the Gwent region.
• Flexibility to work a 6-week rolling rota covering day shifts, evenings, weekends and night shifts.
• Strong relational skills and ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships while maintaining boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct person-centred support for daily living skills (budgeting, tenancy management, meals, routines).
• Support community integration by escorting to appointments and facilitating activity participation.
• Contribute to care and treatment planning by attending reviews and helping articulate goals.
• Offer emotional regulation and crisis support using SCM principles to manage distress.
• Embed PIE standards across support activities.
• Maintain accurate records and escalate safeguarding concerns.
• Assist with outcome measurement and gathering feedback for service improvement.
• Participate in team handovers, clinical supervision and reflective practice.
