Job summary
Tesco Stores Limited is seeking a passionate Frontend / Web Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will design and build customer-focused web experiences using modern frontend tools and practices.
You will work across React, TypeScript and Node.js, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and contribute to high-traffic applications while advocating accessibility and performance.
Qualifications
- Commercial experience as a Frontend Software Developer.
- Strong knowledge of web technologies including semantic HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
- Experience with React and at least one testing framework (RTL/Jest/Cypress/Playwright).
- Experience using Node.js to create high-traffic applications (Express.js/Sails/Koa).
- Awareness of UI performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable frontend systems using JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Profile and optimise code for performance.
- Translate requirements into tasks and code.
- Implement CI/CD and automate processes.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to drive value.
- Support production systems and resolve incidents.
- Mentor teammates and share knowledge.
- Produce proofs of concepts to evaluate new tools.
