Job summary

Willis Global in Chelmsford is seeking an Internal / External Sales Executive to drive new business for a freight forwarding and logistics team. You will manage quotes, build relationships, and visit customers while developing existing accounts.

The role combines office-based sales with field visits across the UK, requiring proactive outbound calls, strong negotiation, and a full UK driving licence. Salary up to £40K plus commission, with pension and private health after probation.

Qualifications

• Previous commercial experience within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident making outbound sales calls.
• Comfortable attending customer meetings.
• Strong negotiation and closing skills.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Generate new business opportunities through proactive cold calling, networking and referrals.
• Prepare and follow up quotations for imports/exports and cross-trade shipments.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing customers; manage key accounts.
• Plan and attend customer visits across the UK; present services professionally.
• Develop a strong sales pipeline and achieve targets/KPIs.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure pricing accuracy and feasibility.
