Job summary

TLP in the Folkestone area is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive revenue growth and profitability across road, sea, air freight, warehousing and customs services. You will lead a team of around 5 direct reports and report to the Branch Director, shaping commercial strategy and customer growth.

This is a full-time role with a competitive salary, plus commission and a car allowance or company car.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Commercial Manager, Business Development Manager or Sales Manager role within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proven track record of driving revenue growth and profitable business across Air, Sea and/or Road freight.
• Experience managing, motivating and developing a commercial team.
• Strong understanding of freight forwarding, logistics and international transport.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and customer management abilities.
• Self-motivated, resilient and capable in a fast-paced commercial environment.
• Attention to detail and accountability.
• High level of IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Drive growth and profitability by identifying and securing new commercial opportunities across road, sea, air, courier, warehousing and customs.
• Develop and convert new business opportunities and relationships, expanding services for existing clients.
• Manage, coach and support a team of ~5 direct reports to improve performance.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure effective account management and high-quality service.
• Manage pricing strategies and margins to maximise profitability across accounts.
• Build strong customer relationships through regular meetings, site visits and events.
• Provide regular commercial updates to the Branch Director.
