Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Fraud Performance and Controls Lead to drive the end-to-end Policy Fraud portfolio, aligning underwriting, analytics and operations to maximise fraud prevention and sustainable profitability.

You will own performance metrics, lead initiatives to improve detection, referral efficiency and operational workflows, and guide senior stakeholders with insights and fraud intelligence.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across insurance fraud, underwriting, financial crime or commercial risk management.
• Strong understanding of fraud controls, referral strategies and operational performance management.
• Experience in leading and delivering measurable commercial outcomes, change and transformation initiatives.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex data and convert insights into action.
• Commercially minding with a strong understanding of insurance profitability drivers.

Responsibilities

• Own the performance of the Policy Fraud portfolio against agreed fraud, commercial and customer measures.
• Identify opportunities to improve fraud detection, referral efficiency and underwriting outcomes.
• Lead initiatives that improve loss ratio, referral performance and operational efficiency and present portfolio performance to senior stakeholders.
• Act as the senior fraud representative for policy fraud referrals and controls, influencing underwriting strategy.
• Optimise end-to-end workflows, removing process inefficiencies and coordinating change across workstreams.
• Lead reviews of significant fraud and large loss cases to identify control weaknesses and trends; translate lessons into improvements.
• Identify automation opportunities and support new fraud controls, decisioning capabilities and customer journeys.
