Job summary

Preply is seeking a Fraud Operations Manager in London to lead a global team protecting the marketplace. You will own the fraud operations strategy, establish governance with Finance, and partner with Product and Data to drive robust detection and risk management.

You will define standards, monitor KPIs, and translate field observations into scalable requirements, shaping the detection roadmap across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6-8+ years in fraud operations, payments risk, or financial crime with people management.
• Proven track record leading fraud or risk ops in a marketplace, fintech, or ecommerce.
• Deep expertise in investigation, chargeback management and detection workflows.
• Experience owning operational KPIs and translating data into decisions.
• Strong people leadership to build and coach high-performing teams.
• Able to translate operational observations into clear requirements for Product and Data.
• Strong data fluency to identify gaps between ground truth and detected signals.
• Design scalable processes and governance frameworks that endure.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of Fraud Specialists with clear expectations and accountability.
• Own the Fraud Operations roadmap and align it with broader business goals.
• Design and formalise investigation standards, workflows, and escalation protocols.
• Define, track, and improve Fraud Ops KPIs including chargeback rate and exposure metrics.
• Establish governance cadence with Finance and senior leadership.
• Translate day-to-day fraud observations into actionable requirements for Product and Data.
• Collaborate with Product, Payments, and Finance as the primary fraud authority.
• Own workforce planning and capacity management for operational resilience.
• Present fraud performance and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Drive continuous process improvement through root cause analysis and tooling evolution.
