Job summary

Dexory is building its first company-wide data capability, and this is its founding hire. You will build and own the data foundation that brings diverse sources together, model them into clean tables, and define metrics so AI can query data safely. You will be a solo engineer to start, setting standards and proving value with early wins.

This position requires minimum 2 days onsite per week at our Wallingford facility, with the chance to shape the function as it grows.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a senior data or analytics engineer, owning architecture and source-of-truth decisions.
• Hands-on data skills: fluent SQL, data modelling, modern data stack; experience with Databricks and dbt.
• Fluent in AI automation tooling to integrate systems and enable natural-language querying with controlled context.
• Experience integrating multiple operational and SaaS systems (Databricks, HubSpot, Pendo, Grafana, deployment tooling, contracts).
• Strong communication to align non-technical stakeholders on definitions and ownership.
• Experience with data quality, deduplication or entity resolution and consistent information.
• Self-starter, able to lead as first/sole engineer in a fast-moving scale-up.

Responsibilities

• Build data foundation by unifying data sources into a single, queryable layer and define core concepts (customer, site, deployment, contract).
• Embed data security as a design principle across architecture and engineering work.
• Model performance signals against SLAs and KPIs to answerable customer/site performance on demand.
• Define metrics and business definitions; establish a metrics bible for AI and reporting.
• Use AI automation to join systems and provide self-serve data via connectors and a natural-language layer.
• Collaborate with engineering, platform, autonomy and perception teams to expose clean source data.
• Own ongoing health of the data foundation: monitor pipelines, adapt to source changes, protect trust.
• Balance build-vs-buy, set future engineering standards, deliver early wins.
• Help define, recruit and mentor the growing data function.
