Job summary

Dex is partnering with a team building a proactive AI assistant that maintains a living model of a person’s work history across emails, messages, meetings, and documents. You will own the research direction for core problems, from hypothesis to production, in a small team of repeat founders with doctorates.

You will design retrieval and knowledge-base systems, develop reasoning models, and build real-time capabilities, ultimately delivering robust, scalable, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• PhD or completed an end-to-end technical project at a company.
• 5+ years solving research-level problems in NLP/LLMs or adjacent ML.
• Implement and extend current research papers, not just use libraries.
• Experience forming and testing hypotheses and building scalable systems.
• Strong Python; comfortable with cloud infra; SQL and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement retrieval and knowledge-base systems for a living model of user context.
• Develop and deploy reasoning models across diverse, messy data sources.
• Build models for real-time reasoning over live screen and application context.
• Own the research lifecycle from hypothesis to production-ready systems.
