Job summary

Legal & General is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Group Protection technology team in the UK. You will help shape and deliver modern cloud-based solutions across the full software delivery lifecycle, collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to turn ideas into scalable, secure applications.

You will mentor peers, drive continuous improvement, and help raise engineering standards while delivering reliable services.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript with commercial experience.
• Experience building and supporting RESTful microservices in Spring Boot, Node.js or similar frameworks.
• Solid understanding of cloud technologies, ideally Azure, with containerisation tools.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices, preferably GitHub Actions.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, clean architecture and TDD.
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Mentoring engineers and contributing to team culture.

• Own and evolve services and applications through their full lifecycle.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to understand business needs and shape technical solutions.
• Design, develop and deploy scalable applications with modern engineering practices.
• Drive quality via automated testing, observability and continuous improvement.
• Lead technical problem solving and assist incident investigations and resolution.
• Champion secure software development and engineering best practices.
• Mentor engineers to strengthen team capability and technical excellence.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and reduce technical debt.
