Job summary

Interaction Technical is recruiting for a Workshop Engineer (Forklifts) based at Grantham, Lincolnshire. You will service, maintain and repair forklift trucks and plant machinery in a busy workshop, with minimal travel and an emphasis on quality and safety.

The role offers a starting salary of £35,000–£40,000 DOE, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus overtime at 1.5x and a clear path for training and career progression within a well-established team.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering (advantageous).
• Experience in plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries.
• Strong hydraulics, electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment.
• Solid fault finding, servicing and repair skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing faults, servicing, and repairs on forklift and plant equipment.
• Conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery.
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding.
• Working on engines, batteries, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale.
• Completing job sheets and service records accurately.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop.

The Role

Based at the Grantham site, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of forklift trucks and plant machinery within a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs on forklift and plant equipment
• Conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding
• Working on key systems including:
• Engines
• Batteries
• Hydraulics
• Pneumatics
• Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale
• Completing job sheets and service records accurately
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop

What We’re Looking For

✔ Experience working in the plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential)
✔ Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems (essential)
✔ Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment
✔ Solid fault finding, service, and repair skills
✔ NVQ / City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering (advantageous)
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
