Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Foreperson/Workshop Manager or Supervisor based in Carlisle to run the busy yard and lead a small team, ensuring targets are hit and customers are satisfied. You'll manage workshop and yard operations, organise stock, monitor off-hired equipment, and maintain high safety and service standards under the guidance of the Line Manager.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in a yard environment.
• Forklift license required.
• Experience managing a team of people.
• Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
• Desirable industry sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day workshop and yard staff.
• Organise returns, repairs and stock in yard.
• Monitor off-hired equipment, record repairs per guidelines.
• Coordinate vehicle movements in and around the yard.
• Ensure yard and equipment areas are clean and compliant with safety standards.
• Carry out regular stock checks and participate in stock takes.

Based in a local service centre on a day-day basis you will be required to manage the busy yard and team of yard operatives to ensure that all targets are achieved and customers are satisfied with the Service.

Working alongside colleagues, you will be a great team player and take pride in your workplace and working environment, making sure that high standards are maintained whilst complying with company procedures and processes. Communicating effectively, ensuring that your Line Manager and Customers are kept informed as required.

As Foreperson your duties will include;

• Daily management of workshop and yard staff.
• Organise returns, repairs and management of stock in yard
• Monitoring all off hired equipment ensuring all repairs and damages are recorded accordingly within the company guidelines and Service centre manager is informed.
• Co-ordinating vehicles movements in , out and around the yard.
• Ensuring that the yard and any covered space is kept tidy with “ready for hire “ equipment, “equipment off-hired not checked” and “equipment to be repaired” stored within their designated areas
• Ensure the yard complies with Health and Safety standard and the team complies with and follows the relevant procedures.
• Ensure all equipment is repaired and maintained in line with manufacturers guidelines
• Carry out regular stock checks on material to ensure accuracy of the counts of equipment
• Co-ordinate and manage the yard during regular stock takes.
