Queen Mary’s College of Basingstoke is seeking a football coach to support its thriving football programme for students aged 16 to 18. The role involves coaching, running matches, and collaborating with the teaching staff to inspire students. Candidates should have a recognised coaching qualification and experience in football.
The Sports and Physical Education Department at Queen Mary’s College is a strong, well performing department that offers a broad range of opportunities both to study and participate in. We are looking for a football coach to support the department’s strong teaching.
Queen Mary's College runs a thriving football programme for boys and girls aged 16 to 18. The college regularly turns out 2 boys' teams and 1 girls' team on Wednesday afternoons. The girls train on a Tuesday at 11:30 for 90 minutes and the boys on Friday morning at 09:00 for 90 minutes. This role includes coaching and running the matches. The role is suitable for experienced coaches as well as people looking to develop their coaching careers.
Person specification
Candidates will be selected if they fulfil the following criteria:
• A recognised football coaching qualification or working towards one
• A recognised football referee qualification
• Recent experience coaching or playing football
• The ability to engage and inspire students
• The ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with this age range
• A minibus driving qualification is desirable but not essential
• Robust safeguarding practices are paramount in this role
You will work alongside the teacher in charge of football, but you are ultimately accountable to Andy Fields, Director of Learning.
