Job summary

CBW Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Cover / Support Engineer – Semi-Static) in London. The role involves stepping in across a portfolio of high-end commercial offices during planned and unplanned absences, supporting quoted works and tenant maintenance projects, with opportunities to progress toward supervisor-level roles.

Qualifications

• Must have City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations and 18th Edition Regulations.
• Proven experience in commercial building maintenance.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support across multiple commercial office sites.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Support tenant and project works to ensure smooth delivery of services.
• Manage and liaise with subcontractors for specialist services.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including fire alarms and emergency lighting.
• Complete reports, logbooks and assist with monthly compliance documentation.
• Occasionally work out-of-hours or attend call-outs.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Cover / Support Engineer – Semi-Static) - London - up to £45,000+ Zones 1-2 travel card

Location:London (City, Canary Wharf, West End)

Salary: up to £45,000 + Zones 1–2 Travelcard + Overtime

Hours:Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

The Opportunity

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join one of the fastest-growing maintenance providers in London and the South East.

As aCover Engineer, you'll work across a portfolio of high-end commercial office buildings, stepping in during planned and unplanned absences (e.g. holidays, sickness) of site-based engineers. You'll also assist with quoted works and tenant maintenance projects. This role offers variety, autonomy, and clear progression into senior roles such as Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support across multiple commercial office sites
• Carry out both electrical and mechanicalPPM(Planned Preventative Maintenance) andreactive maintenance
• Supporttenant and project works, ensuring smooth delivery of additional services
• Manage and liaise with subcontractors for specialist services
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including:
• Fire alarms
• Emergency lighting
• Water treatment
• HVAC systems, including AHUs and FCUs
• Complete reports, logbooks, and assist with monthly compliance documentation
• Occasionally work out-of-hours or attend call-outs (where applicable)

Salary & Package

• Basic Salary: up to £45,000 (depending on experience)

What We're Looking For

• City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Previous experience incommercial building maintenance
• Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance
• Confident, client-facing, and reliable with strong communication skills
• Willing to travel within Zones 1–2 and work semi-static across key sites
