Job summary

Education Personnel is partnering with a Derby secondary school to recruit a dedicated Food Technology Teacher for an immediate start or January 2027. You will teach KS3 and KS4, with KS5 teaching possible for experienced staff, in modern catering facilities.

The role requires QTS and at least six months of UK secondary teaching experience. You will plan, deliver, and assess lessons, support student progress, and contribute to department life and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver KS3 & KS4 Food Technology curriculum; KS5 teaching possible for experienced Derby candidates.
• Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with department policy and health & safety standards.
• Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions.
• Manage classroom practicals, hygiene, and equipment.
• Attend staff meetings, CPD and parents' evenings as required.

Pay Rate: £130-£230 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Food Technology educator to contribute to a thriving department and support students at KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the KS3 & KS4 Food Technology curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby
• Plan, prepare, and assess Food Technology lessons in line with department policy and health & safety standards
• Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions
• Manage classroom practical setups, hygiene protocols, and culinary equipment
• Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents' evenings as required

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has at least 6 months of classroom teaching Food Technology experience in a UK secondary setting
• Is passionate about Food Technology education, nutrition, and student achievement
• Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school life
