Job summary

Mount Charles Group is recruiting a Food Service Assistant to join the CAFRE, Loughry site. The role involves assisting in the preparation, service and sales of food and beverages, handling cash, and delivering excellent customer service within a welcoming, team-oriented environment.

The position offers a part-time pattern: 14 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 15:30–19:00, with benefits including a pension, health and wellbeing support, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate required.
• Demonstrable passion for customer service.
• Working knowledge of HACCP regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, service and sales of all food and beverages.
• Prepare service counter with correct containers and utensils.
• Provide high level customer service in a consistent manner.
• Work with the team to ensure timely, high-quality service.
• Carry out cleaning duties per rota and maintain hygiene standards.
• Assist with moving and setting up catering furniture as needed.
• Report any equipment or safety issues promptly.

The Role:

• Assist in the preparation, service and sales of all food and beverages for the unit
• Preparation of service counter (including placing food and beverages in appropriate containers and correct utensils are available)
• Provide the highest level of customer service in a consistent approach to anyone who uses the facility
• Work as part of the team to ensure service is delivered on time and to a consistently high standard
• Carry out all cleaning duties as per instruction from line manager or per unit cleaning rota
• Ensure kitchen and service areas are always clean and tidy and assist with waste removal.
• Clear and wash dishes in the dining area as required
• Be responsible for cash handling duties under your control
• Assist, when required, with the moving and setting up of furniture for catering purposes in designated areas.
• Report defective equipment/ utensils/ work and floor surfaces or any other Health and Safety issues

The Person:

• Make customers aware of current offers and upsell additional products where possible
• Ensure all customer suggestions, comments or complaints are reported to the Line Manager.
• Ensure all customers are served in a quick and efficient manner.
• Ensure all clothing, including footwear and personal hygiene is of the highest standards
• Demonstrable passion for providing good customer service
• Excellent communication skills
• Workable knowledge of HACCP regulations
• Basic food hygiene certificate
