Intertek is recruiting a Laboratory Technician for our Derby microbiology lab. The role involves supporting food Microbiology testing, sample preparation, plating, incubation and day‑to‑day laboratory operations within a regulated environment.

You will follow SOPs/GLP, maintain records, and contribute to a high‑performing team. The shift is Mon–Fri, 2:00pm–10:00pm, with overtime and occasional weekend work. Training provided for growth within a global quality network.

Formación

• Good general standard of education in Science, English and Maths.
• Some laboratory experience would be advantageous, training provided.
• Ability to follow instructions, SOPs and lab procedures accurately.
• Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good IT literacy skills.
• Flexible and reliable approach to work.
• Comfortable working in a physically active laboratory role.
• Experience in food, microbiology or production environments would be advantageous.
• Science degree preferred but not essential.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare food samples for microbiological testing.
• Carry out sample dilution and plating activities.
• Support microbiological analysis using standard laboratory techniques.
• Follow SOPs and aseptic techniques throughout all laboratory processes.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Support incubation and sample processing activities.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory.
• Support quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Operate laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient laboratory operations.
• Adhere to all laboratory health & safety procedures and compliance requirements.
