Job summary

Howells Solutions Limited is seeking an experienced Floor Layer to join a reactive maintenance team, performing floor repairs and installations across Barnet and the North West/West London area. The role includes travelling between properties and working in residents’ homes.

The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), experience in vinyl and cap & cove flooring, and a valid UK driving licence. This is a permanent, full-time position with a company van and fuel card provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in flooring.
• Proven experience in social housing reactive maintenance.
• Experience installing vinyl flooring and cap & cove flooring.
• Experience working in occupied residential properties.
• Full UK manual driving licence (no automatic vans).

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive floor repairs and installations in occupied properties.
• Prepare subfloors to ensure high-quality finish.
• Install and repair vinyl flooring, including safety flooring.
• Complete cap and cove flooring installations to a high standard.
• Measure, cut and fit flooring materials accurately.
• Remove and replace damaged flooring as required.
• Diagnose flooring issues and perform effective repairs.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Deliver excellent customer service in residents' homes.
• Manage own workload and complete jobs within agreed timescales.
• Take ownership from first visit to completion.

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Floor Layer to join a well-established reactive maintenance team, carrying out day-to-day flooring repairs and installations within occupied social housing properties across Barnet and the surrounding North West and West London areas.

This is a mobile role covering Barnet, Camden, Wembley, Westminster, Harrow, Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith, therefore candidates must be comfortable travelling between properties throughout the working day.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out reactive floor repairs and installations within occupied residential properties.
• Preparing subfloors to ensure a high-quality finish.
• Installing and repairing vinyl flooring, including safety flooring.
• Completing cap and cove flooring installations to a high standard.
• Measuring, cutting and fitting flooring materials accurately.
• Removing and replacing damaged flooring where required.
• Diagnosing flooring issues and carrying out effective repairs.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.
• Delivering excellent customer service while working within residents' homes.
• Managing your own workload and completing jobs within agreed timescales.
• Taking ownership of jobs from first visit through to completion.

Experience & Requirements

• Relevant Floor Laying qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) or proven time-served experience.
• Proven experience within social housing reactive maintenance.
• Experience installing and repairing vinyl flooring and cap and cove flooring.
• Experience working within occupied residential properties.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively.
• Full UK manual driving licence (no automatic vans available).
