Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited are seeking an experienced Floor Layer for roles covering Ealing and surrounding areas. The position offers long-term, stable work with a route to permanent employment, focusing on responsive flooring repairs, maintenance, and installations in domestic and social housing properties.

You will work independently on a range of flooring tasks, including vinyl, LVT, laminate and carpet, with the use of a PDA to receive jobs and record progress.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Floor Layer in domestic and social housing settings.
• Experience with vinyl, LVT, laminate and carpet installations.
• Experience working in occupied properties and minimising disruption.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to use a PDA/mobile device.

Responsibilities

• Carry out flooring repairs and replacements in domestic and social housing properties.
• Install and repair vinyl, LVT, laminate, carpet and other floor coverings.
• Measure, prepare, and assess floors prior to installation; remove old flooring.
• Prepare subfloors, carry out minor repairs, and ensure safe, high‑quality finishes.
• Complete works in occupied properties with minimal disruption to residents.
• Attend void properties to complete flooring works and prepare for re-let.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and provide excellent customer service.

Location: Ealing
Contract: Temp to Permanent
Rate: £20.50 per hour CIS

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Floor Layer to join a housing maintenance team covering Ealing and surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Floor Layer looking for long-term, stable work with the opportunity to move into a permanent position. You will be carrying out flooring repairs, replacements and general maintenance across domestic and social housing properties, working in both occupied and void properties.

The successful candidate will be confident completing a range of flooring works, with the ability to work independently while providing a professional and customer-focused service to residents.

The Role

As a Floor Layer, you will be responsible for attending properties to complete a variety of responsive flooring repairs, maintenance and installation works.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Carrying out flooring repairs and replacements within domestic and social housing properties
• Installing and repairing vinyl, LVT, laminate, carpet and other floor coverings
• Measuring, preparing and assessing floors prior to installation
• Removing existing flooring and preparing surfaces for new coverings
• Completing subfloor preparation, including minor repairs and making good
• Carrying out responsive repairs within occupied properties while minimising disruption to residents
• Attending void properties to complete flooring works and prepare properties for re-let
• Ensuring all flooring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Using a PDA/handheld device to receive jobs, update information and complete work records
• Managing your own daily workload and completing jobs within agreed timescales
• Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
• Providing excellent customer service when dealing with tenants and residents

Customer Service

As you will be working directly in residents' homes, a professional and respectful approach is essential.

You will be expected to communicate clearly with tenants, explain works where required, protect residents' belongings and leave properties clean and tidy once works are completed.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Floor Layer with a strong background in domestic flooring and property maintenance.

Previous experience working within social housing, housing associations, council properties, MOD properties or domestic maintenance would be highly advantageous.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Floor Layer
• Strong knowledge of domestic flooring installation and repairs
• Experience working within occupied domestic properties
• Experience with vinyl, LVT, laminate, carpet or similar floor coverings
• Social housing or housing association experience preferred
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to use a PDA or mobile device to manage jobs
