Job summary

Carlisle Support Services is hiring Relief Retail Security officers in the Preston area in partnership with Tesco. The role covers holidays and sickness with various shifts, typically 6am-3pm or 3pm-11pm/midnight. Pay is £14.15 per hour, with full induction and ongoing training available.

You will protect people and property, manage access, deter crime, and deliver excellent customer service on site. Full training and safety procedures are provided.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old – legal requirement to work in front-line licensable activity.
• SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence.
• Five years' checkable work and address history.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and smart in appearance.
• Friendly, approachable and professional attitude.
• Experience in security or customer-facing roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure colleague safety and provide assurance to all.
• Maintain a smart, visible security presence and deterrent.
• Manage conflicts calmly and incident handling.
• Control access and egress; conduct security patrols to deter crime.
• Engage with the public in a proactive, professional manner.
• Be aware of hazards and respond appropriately to incidents.
• Provide guidance and direct customers as a first point of contact.
• Follow safety and security processes and procedures.
• Work as part of a team and build strong relationships.
