Job summary

Carlisle Support Services is recruiting a Relief Retail Security Officer for sites in the Preston area. You will cover holidays and sickness, with shifts around 6am-3pm and 3pm-11pm/midnight, and pay of £14.15 per hour.

Full induction, ongoing training, and uniform provided. The role offers flexibility to be used as a full-time position or to supplement another income, with opportunities to work across multiple locations and gain experience with major clients.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old – legal requirement for frontline licensable activity.
• SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence held.
• 5 years of checkable work and address history.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and well-presented.
• Friendly, approachable and professional at all times.
• Enthusiastic and motivated to perform well.
• Some security or customer-facing experience preferred.
• Able to interact positively with clients and customers.
• Experience working in a security environment and teamwork is a plus.
• Must provide original documents for screening and vetting, including passport, driving licence or other acceptable ID.

Responsibilities

• Ensure colleague safety and provide assurance to all.
• Maintain a smart, visible, proactive security presence.
• Handle incidents with effective conflict management.
• Control access and conduct security patrols to deter crime.
• Engage with the public in a proactive, professional manner.
• Be aware of hazards and respond appropriately to incidents.
