Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper in Northampton to manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of SME clients. The role offers either full-time or part-time hours (3 days per week) with flexible hours and a competitive salary up to £40,000 DOE.

You will handle bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and collaborate with clients to maintain accurate records, leveraging cloud accounting tools such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.

Qualifications

• Experience in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice
• Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
• Familiar with cloud accounting systems
• AAT qualification or equivalent experience welcome

Responsibilities

• Managing bookkeeping for SME clients across sectors
• Processing sales and purchase ledgers
• Bank reconciliations and cashbook management
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Maintaining client accounts and records
• Assisting with management accounts preparation
• Liaising with clients to resolve queries
• Supporting year-end accounts preparation
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments
