Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking a lawyer to grow their legal career in a supportive local authority, offering up to 37 hours per week with flexible and agile working. You’ll manage your own caseload across Adult Social Care, Education/SEND, Licensing, Regulatory services and Prosecutions, with opportunities to specialise in litigation and advocacy, supported by experienced colleagues.

You'll work with courts, tribunals and committees, and benefit from ongoing training and development

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitors, barristers or FCILEX or part-qualified or aspiring lawyers with a supported development route.
• Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
• Interest in Education, SEND or Regulatory services is welcome, with experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and provide clear, practical legal advice across Adult Social Care, Education/SEND, Licensing, Regulatory services and Prosecutions.
• Prepare and progress cases, draft documents and support services to enable informed decisions.
• Represent the Council at court, tribunals, appeals and Licensing Committees, developing advocacy skills with support.
• Stay up to date with legislation and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
