Job summary

Service Care Solutions is recruiting a Litigation Lawyer for a permanent role in Stockport with hybrid working (attendance at least 2 days per week). The post offers a competitive salary and benefits within a supportive Legal Services team.

You will handle regulatory and enforcement matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation across diverse cases. A minimum of 5 years' PQE and a valid England practising certificate are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years' PQE in Litigation law.
• Current practising certificate to practise in England.
• Qualified as Solicitor, Barrister, or CILeX with litigation rights.
• Experience in criminal enforcement or regulatory work.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and engage in criminal enforcement and regulatory work for the Council.
• Provide high-quality legal advice to internal departments and stakeholders.
• Advise and represent the Council on Trading Standards and Environmental Health matters.
• Handle breaches of enforcement notices and planning-related issues.
• Advise on Premises Licensing and Taxi/Private Hire Licensing matters.
• Manage a varied caseload from instruction to resolution.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve effective legal outcomes.

Service Care Solutions is working with a well-known local authority based in Stockport to recruit an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their established and award-winning Legal Services team on a permanent basis . You will join a friendly and collaborative team of ten colleagues, working within a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and valued. You will also become an integral part of an award-winning Legal Team of up to 50 colleagues across five specialist legal sub-teams

Your Role

As a Litigation Lawyer , you will play a key role within the Litigation team, providing high-quality legal advice and representation across a broad range of regulatory and enforcement matters.

Responsibilities as a Litigation Lawyer

• Leading and engaging in criminal enforcement and regulatory work .
• Providing high-quality legal advice to internal council departments and stakeholders.
• Advising and representing the Council in relation to Trading Standards and Environmental Health matters.
• Dealing with breaches of enforcement notices, including matters relating to Planning .
• Advising on and dealing with Premises Licensing matters.
• Advising on Taxi and Private Hire Licensing matters.
• Managing a varied caseload from instruction through to resolution.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and internal departments to achieve effective legal outcomes.

About you as a Litigation lawyer

We are looking for an experienced and confident litigator and advocate who is able to manage a varied caseload and provide high-quality legal advice.

At least 5 years' PQE working in Litigation Law .

A current practising certificate qualifying you to practise in England.

Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) with litigation rights .

Experience of criminal enforcement and/or regulatory work , gained either in private practice or within another public organisation.

Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

A genuine desire to develop your knowledge and expertise.

Experience across all of the areas listed above is not essential , as support and development will be provided.

A can-do attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn are key attributes for this role.
