Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking an Employment and Litigation Solicitor/Barrister to join our Legal and Democratic Services Team. You will handle a diverse caseload combining specialist employment law with broader litigation, delivering high-quality advice to support vital public services.

You will provide expert input on disciplinary issues, tribunal representations, and risk management, with opportunities for career progression in a forward-thinking council environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with Practising Certificate or qualified Barrister.
• Experience in employment law, litigation and advocacy.
• Clear, practical and commercially aware legal advice.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and presentation skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide expert legal advice on employment law matters including disciplinary and grievance issues, policies and procedures, workforce change and disputes.
• Represent the Council in Employment Tribunals, County Courts, hearings, inquiries, negotiations and ADR processes.
• Manage a busy and diverse caseload of employment and litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, legal agreements and reports.
• Advise on dispute avoidance strategies and risk management.
• Support the wider Litigation Team across local government matters.
• Research and interpret legislation, case law and legal developments to ensure timely advice.
• Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
