Job summary

Orkney Islands Council is seeking a Day Centre Officer for the West Mainland Day Care Centre. The role involves supporting elderly people in a flexible, sensitive manner and promoting independence through day care activities.

The post requires SVQ 2 in Social Care, willingness to work towards SVQ III, and Level 2 PVG disclosure. You will report to the Senior Day Centre Officer and may need to observe confidentiality and maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have relevant experience in a similar post.
• You should hold an SVQ 2 in Social Care and be willing to work towards an SVQ III.
• This post is a regulated role with adults and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of services for elderly people which are flexible, sensitive and responsive to individual needs.
• Promote, through day care activities, the rights of elderly service users to have informed choice, self-determination and to maintain, through independence, their personal well-being.
• Observe the principles of confidentiality in all aspects of practice and attend to the general care and well‑being of service users, including assisting with their personal care in keeping with the standards of care.
