Job summary

Orkney Islands Council is seeking a Relief Social Care Assistant at Smiddybrae House to provide continuous care for the frail elderly and those with dementia. You will work on an as-needed basis, delivering compassionate support under the supervision of a Senior Social Care Worker.

Applicants must hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care (SCQF 6) or an equivalent qualification and register with the SSSC within 3 months. A PVG check will be required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Hold SVQ2 (SCQF Level 6) in Health and Social Care or equivalent accepted by SSSC for Care Home support.
• Must register with the SSSC as a Support Worker within 3 months of appointment.
• Role involves safeguarding, confidentiality and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous care to frail, elderly and those with dementia in a residential care setting.
• Carry out tasks delegated by senior staff efficiently and effectively.
• Observe confidentiality and ensure safety and comfort of service users.
• Assist with personal care as required and maintain high standards of hygiene and well-being.
