Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Child Development Support Assistant to work in Primary Schools across Sunderland, starting in September. The role suits qualified Teaching Assistants who support children's academic, social and emotional development.

You will help pupils thrive inside and outside the classroom with a nurturing approach. Role involves collaborating with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams to support progress and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 TA qualification is essential.
• Experience in a Primary School setting.
• Passion for supporting child development and wellbeing.
• Understanding of SEND/SEMH is desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Additional qualifications in Education/Childcare/Child Development advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support children with learning, communication and developmental needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
• Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning programmes.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
• Create a nurturing, safe and inclusive learning environment.
