Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Child Development Support Assistant to work in welcoming Primary Schools across Hebburn, starting in September. The role suits qualified Teaching Assistants who support children’s academic, social and emotional development and help pupils thrive in and out of the classroom.

You will work with pupils with a range of needs, build strong relationships with staff and families, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment that fosters independence and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above is essential.
  • Experience in a Primary School setting.
  • Passion for supporting child development and wellbeing.
  • Understanding of SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Additional qualifications in Education, Childcare or Child Development advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with a range of learning, communication and developmental needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning programmes.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
  • Create a nurturing, safe and inclusive learning environment.

Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above
